We are thrilled to celebrate a remarkable milestone – 17 years of unwavering service to our beloved Greenwich community! Since our humble beginnings in 2006 at the Abbey Wood Community Centre, Listening Ears Charity has stood as a beacon of hope, supporting over 2000 individuals, between ages 5 and 99!
Dedicated Volunteers, Lasting Impact
Our journey has been possible thanks to the dedication of our volunteers who have tirelessly carried out essential outreach work. Through initiatives like our Community Angels befriending service and our compassionate telephone support line, we’ve reached hearts, bridged gaps, and created lasting connections.
A Beacon of Hope in Greenwich
With the dedication of our remarkable volunteers, Listening Ears has become a beacon of hope in Greenwich. Through essential outreach programs like our “Community Angels” befriending service and our comforting telephone support line, we’ve extended our hand to those who seek connection and compassion. Our community food bank has provided vital support, offering provisions to those who are immobile or restricted at home. We’re driven by the belief that no one should ever feel alone or hungry.
A Journey Towards Mobility and Nourishment
In the spirit of our commitment to combating isolation, our current focus is on mobilising our cherished minibus, a lifeline for many. We’re on a mission to keep it operational, enabling us to transport elderly community members to our center and deliver food bank provisions to those who are immobile and confined at home. With a fundraising target of £2000, we have already raised over £1300. In the next 48 hours, we aim to raise the balance and ensure our services continue seamlessly. New Horizons
We’re also thrilled to announce that Listening Ears Charity is the recipient of a transformative 5-year fund from the City Bridge Foundation. This generous support will enable us to reach even the most isolated individuals in our community, ensuring that nobody feels left behind.
Get Involved
We invite new members and volunteers to join our weekly Feel Good sessions in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead. It’s not just a group; it’s a community that embraces everyone with open arms. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, share, and create lasting memories.
Thank you for standing by us for 17 incredible years. Together, let’s continue making a difference, one connection at a time.
