Listening Ears Celebrates 19 Years of Connection, Compassion & Community Impact
This October, we are delighted to celebrate 19 incredible years of making a difference in the community! Since our founding in 2006, Listening Ears has stood as a beacon of hope—dedicated to reducing loneliness and isolation, and creating spaces where everyone feels heard, supported, and valued.
Over nearly two decades, our mission has remained clear: to diminish the shadows of isolation and loneliness by bringing people together through friendship, care, and compassion.
A Year of Growth, Partnerships & Positivity
The past year has been another vibrant chapter in our journey. From our Feel Good sessions to our Food Bank and community partnerships, we’ve continued to nurture wellbeing and connection across Thamesmead and beyond.
The Feel Good Project
Our popular Feel Good sessions, funded by City Bridge Foundation (5-Year Funding), have continued to thrive, bringing joy, movement, and laughter to participants twice a week, every Monday and Friday.
-
99 sessions have been delivered since our last anniversary, contributing to a remarkable total of 1,454 sessions since the project began.
-
Our Friday sessions welcome an average of 25 attendees, while our Monday sessions (held in partnership with Peabody at The Nest, Thamesmead) bring together around 15 participants each week.
These sessions provide far more than exercise, they are safe spaces for friendship, emotional wellbeing, and connection.
Supporting Families Through Our Food Bank
In addition to our wellbeing activities, our Food Bank continues to be a vital community lifeline. Over the past year, we’ve supported more than 100 families in Greenwich, helping to ensure that no one in our neighbourhood goes without essential food and supplies.
Building Bridges Through Partnerships
Collaboration lies at the heart of everything we do. Over the past year, we have worked closely with organisations such as Peabody and Greenwich & Bexley Hospice, strengthening our community links and enhancing the support available to local residents.
Celebrating Together: Community Events
Joy and togetherness have also been central to this year’s calendar. From our Valentine’s Tea Party and Easter Celebration to our summer day trip to Southend Beach, attended by over 50 members, these events have brought people together to share laughter, stories, and lasting memories.
Empowering Lives, Fostering Connections
At Listening Ears, our work goes beyond activities—it’s about transforming lives. We believe in the power of connection to enhance wellbeing and bring hope to those who may feel unseen or unheard.
Through projects like our Feel Good Centres, Community Angels, and Food Bank, we continue to provide meaningful opportunities for engagement, healing, and friendship.
Our mission remains rooted in compassion, inclusion, and community spirit. Every conversation shared, every hand extended, and every smile exchanged helps us move closer to our vision of a world where no one feels alone.
Heartfelt Thanks to Our Funders & Supporters
Our journey would not be possible without the unwavering support of our funders, sponsors, and donors. We extend our deepest gratitude to:
