Feel Good Fridays

Our Feel Good Friday club offers a drop-in opportunity for local community members to interact and make new friends, have a chat and a laugh over tea and coffee. We work in partnership with other organisations and service providers including the Healthy Living Service of the Greenwich Council as well as the Advocacy for Older People in Greenwich. We feature a range of different activities designed to increase community cohesion, reduce isolation, overcome depression and improve the quality of life and total well-being of our clients. Come along and Make Friends & Play Games, enjoy Free Yoga Sessions, Cookery Sessions Free Massage & Reflexology as well as Free Health Checks with experienced Health Trainers.

Listening Ears in partnership with the NHS Greenwich, has established a community health and wellbeing project on the Flowers Estate in Abbeywood. Tagged  Feel Good Fridays, it features various activities that are run by Listening Ears volunteers in conjunction with local residents and other service providers including NHS Greenwich, Age Concern, and Volunteer Centre Greenwich. It features a range of activities designed to increase community cohesion and reduce isolation. These include drop in sessions, weekly physical activity sessions, monthly pamper days.

From time to time, we organise day trips within the UK. Previous destinations have included Deal, Brighton Beach, Broadstairs, Herne Bay and events. The trip usually accommodates about 50-60 people travelling on a hired coach. The trips are usually subsided with reasonable fees. We usually spend the afternoon at the location giving everyone time to explore the area, local museums, restaurants before heading back in the late evenings.

In pursuance of tackling isolation, Feel Good Friday club is our initiative to provide a space to meet up on Fridays and make new friends and feel good. This project aims to reduce loneliness, build confidence and personal esteem, improve mental health and total well-being. Beneficiaries of this project are predominantly elderly people and adults over 50

Disability access available. All our activities are gentle, bearing in mind the age of the participant, but effective enough to improve mobility and reduce the risk of Cardio-vascular illnesses.


Special Workshop Sessions: Multicultural Cookery Club

Listening Ears is passionate about supporting you to improve your health and lifestyle. We therefore provide you support from a qualified Health Trainer to enable you identify areas of your health and lifestyle that need some changes. Together, we set achievable goals and we empower you to take small steps of change a little a time until you are able to achieve your set goals.

We also train you free of charge, about healthy eating, nutrition and healthy weight management. We make this more interesting by providing opportunity for you to put into practice what you have learnt by participating in our multi-cultural cookery club sessions which is always very exciting. You will also receive support in healthy weight management options and get sign-posted if you need further support.


First Friday of every month: Massage

First Friday of every month, all our service users are pampered with a free massage session. This service is rendered by a qualified and experienced massage therapist. We offer various massage options to alleviate arthritic and other stress-related pains and discomfort.


Second Friday of every month: Gentle Exercise

Keep the limbs moving!!!! Remember the saying…. You don’t use it, You lose it.

All our clients are 50 years and above and we actually have clients as old as 99. We want to ensure that they are active and the limbs are kept moving.

We do this with some Yoga and gentle exercises, some of them are even chair-based. These are simple movements that are not stressful at all and can easily be done even by a 100 year-old.

This service is delivered by a qualified exercise instructor.


Last Friday of every month: Buffet Day

Eat as much as you like!!!!

Every fourth Friday of the month, our clients are treated to a sumptuous variety of Food and drinks ranging from continental to an array of other cultures.

Healthy eating at its best and what is more …???? you can come hungry and be sure you will be fed to satisfaction before you leave.
