Listening Ears fundraising walkathon

PlaySportLondon Listening Ears health walk, a fundraising 5k walkathon (walk/run) takes place on 19th March 2011. The route will navigate through the historic grand ruins of the nearby Lesnes Abbey from our centre in Bostall Gardens. Interested participants are advised to register early.

Are you ready for a challenge? Consider taking part in a fun and exhilarating walk/jog/run of five kilometres. With FREE entry and prizes for all participants, you can kick-start your fitness or get accustomed to outdoor running! If you are new to walking or outdoor running, take a look at our 5k training programme below to prepare you for the big day.

You can take part as an individual or part of a team to support Listening Ears. We are committed to improving the quality of life in our communities in various aspects, including physical, emotional, mental health and total wellbeing. Entry is free but donations to Listening Ears can be made on the day or online. This event is sponsored by Play Sport London.

Schedule
Please endeavour to have registered by 10:30am. The route is along footpaths and quiet roads therefore please be vigilant and respectful to other path/road users. There are no first or last prizes, as long as you complete the 5km distance either by walking, jogging or running, you are a winner!

Starting point
The Pavillion at Bostal Gardens. Registration is 10am – 10:30am. There will be two groups of runners/joggers and walkers. Walkers start at 10:45 am and runners start at 11am and meet at Lesnes Abbey at 11:30am. There will be a short talk/tour of the Lesnes Abbey ruins and all head back to The Pavillion at their fastest pace.

Monday 15 minute brisk walk
Wednesday 20 minute brisk walk
Saturday 40 minute steady walk followed by 5 minute jog

Monday 20 minute brisk walk
Wednesday 5 minute jog, 15 minute steady walk
Saturday 30 minute steady walk, 10 minute jog
Week 3
Monday 5 minute jog, 15 minute brisk walk, 5 minute jog
